Millville, NJ: October 31, 2010: In front of a colossal crowd at New Jersey Motorsports Park – Thunderbolt Circuit, TKi Motorsport secured the 2010 GTS3 Championship title with their Volvo S60 Challenge driven by Josh Koropchak.

TKi’s team strategy for the final race weekend was to play it safe while still being competitive.  Race one on Saturday saw Koropchak swiftly progressing the Volvo race car through the GTS3 field, in hot pursuit of the class leader.  A late race incident on track yielded a finish under a full course yellow, inevitably leaving Koropchak out of time to make a few more spectacular passes for position.  Finishing in 5^th place, the team accrued valuable points.

Sunday’s race promised to be even better as Koropchak put on an impressive effort during qualifying to start the race in 2^nd position.  At turn four on lap one of the race, Koropchak found himself off track after threading the Volvo through a three-car accident.  Returning onto track, he battled for 2^nd position back, however his pursuit was halted by a second incident that forced the safety car onto the circuit.  Nevertheless, the Volvo S60 crossed the finish line with headlights flashing and ecstatic screaming over the team’s radio, finding a 3^rd place podium finish.

“The Volvo S60 has truly been a superb platform for TKi this year with regard to reliability, speed, and handling.  We were able to finish every race, with nearly 70 percent of them being podiums.  I am so thankful for our sponsors, crew, and fans, and the tremendous effort and support they gave throughout the season.  Without them, this achievement would not have been possible,” said Josh Koropchak, Team Principal and Driver.

This weekend also saw a large turnout for Volvo with the third installment of “Volvo’s at the Track” in coordination with Swedespeed.com.  Fans and enthusiasts were treated to a fun filled day including lunch, suspenseful racing action, and a raffle with items donated by sponsors and supporters.  Some participants also took advantage of the opportunity to run their cars on the track.  Finally, a Volvo XC60 T6 R-Design courtesy of VolvoCountry.com was on display, and also served as the official pace car for Saturday’s race.

“Even though the 2011 plans are still under development, we are working hard toward a Volvo campaign,” said Team Strategist, Ricky Marrero.

TKi Motorsport consistently completed the race weekend with third and fourth place finishes at Watkins Glen International.

With nearly 25 GTS3 competitors determined for the top spot this past weekend, TKi Motorsport was ready for the challenge. Race one found the TKi Motorsport Volvo starting 5^th on grid, and crossing the finish line in 4^th place.  Without a clean flying lap during Sunday’s qualifying session, the team was forced to start race two in 7^th position.  Fortunately with the drop of the green flag, the S60 race car was able to get a superb start and grab a podium 3^rd place finishing position.

“We had some suspension issues that could not be resolved trackside so we had to compensate and compromise.  In the end we prevailed and came out with good results,” said Team Strategist, Ricky Marrero.

With one race weekend left in the season, TKi Motorsport currently commands the GTS3 Championship.

TKi Motorsport descended upon Pocono Raceway for the second and last time of the 2010 season.  Their basic strategy: improving finishing positions from their last visit to this circuit.  Their plan of action prevailed with a 1^st place GTS3 victory.

Koropchak immediately dominated the time sheets on Saturday; quickest in morning practice and less than two hundredths of a second from pole position during qualifying.  Race one finished with TKi Motorsport and Koropchak safely securing first place.

Sunday ultimately proved to be more challenging.  A heated battle ensued from the drop of the green flag between Koropchak’s Volvo S60 Challenge and Hugh Stewart’s #22 BMW M3.  Crossing the finish line side by side, both cars made contact.  As a result, race officials disallowed TKi Motorsport from Sunday’s race.  Watch the in-car video, and you be the judge:

Excitement roared and champagne poured at Lime Rock Park, as TKi Motorsport commanded the NASA Pro Racing GTS3 class for 1st and 2nd place victories.  Driver Josh Koropchak now leads the GTS3 driver’s championship.

Josh Koropchak was at the top of the time sheets and started in the front row for Friday’s race.  After twenty-seven laps, Koropchak crossed the finish line in 2nd place for a podium finish.

“The Volvo did well in today’s race.  Unfortunately part of the car’s ABS system failed, which slowed down our pace, but we are preparing for tomorrow,” said Chris Rhom, TKi Motorsport engineer.

As the fog dissipated early Saturday morning, Volvo enthusiasts from Swedespeed.com filled the paddock to show support for the Volvo marque.  After set-up changes and a spectacular qualifying session, Koropchak established a pole position for Saturday’s race.   Not only did Koropchak finish in 1^st place in the race, he also set a new track record for the GTS3 class.

“The car performed flawlessly thanks to the crew.  Our dedication to further the potential of the S60 has finally paid off with a victory.  Being able to win in front of the Volvo fans put the icing on the cake,” said Josh Koropchak.

The next race weekend is September 4 and September 5 at Pocono Raceway in Long Pond, Pennsylvania.
